3- The third result was from inbreeding them from a runt of litter

  • Obesity: As Pomeranians are small in size they require less food and it’s easy that owners can overfeed them. Therefore, make sure you offer your pom specific amounts. 
  • Gum Problems: As mentioned poms are small so are their teeth, if they binge eat and do not clean their teeth several teeth problems can occur such as tartar and plaque buildup. 
  • Coat loss: Also called, severe hair loss syndrome (SHLS) can affect poms easily from the back of the thigh and it’s better to verify the symptoms before you call a vet.
  • Other health problems: Other common health problems can be cataracts (for eyes), luxating patella (in knee joints), hypoglycemia (Dropped sugar levels).

The standard poms size is about 6-7 inches and weigh about 5-7 lbs. When it comes to teacup pomeranians they are 3-7 inches and weigh less than 2-3 lbs.

In general, teacup pomeranians are healthy and can live up to their lifespan if treated with proper amount of care. Although, teacup pomeranians’ lifespan can be shorter than usual because of their health problems. 

How to Care for Your Teacup Pomeranians Basic Needs?

Speaking of the basic needs for a teacup pomeranian can be- 

  • Nutrition- In your pom’s diet it is advised to give ½ or ¼ th of kibbles specified for small breeds. It also depends on the type of the pom as some might not enjoy certain flavors or the appearance of it. 
  • Exercise- As teacup poms are small but they enjoy long walks and are playful. It’s better for them if they exercise while enjoying it, otherwise it can be a bit stressful for them. 
  • Training- For teacup poms it is not easy to focus. Positive Reinforcement has been proven the best techniques till now to train our pom. 
  • Grooming- To maintain their adorable look you have to groom the poms twice a week and a grooming session once a month for their fluffiness won’t hurt anyone.
  • Prefers a lot of attention- As these poms are small and active it’s better to give lots of attention by fetching games, toys etc.
